Weathering, as I use it, is a queer feminist concept that connects embodied experience of weather with the vastness of climate change. It supports poetic and material play with scale and a scalar play with words and things.
As part of AAWP ’24, I am doing a weathering workshop That will combine a simple breakfast with some of the activities that are part of the forthcoming book by myself and Astrida Neimanis, How to weather together: feminist practice for climate change (cosmic weathering, close meteorology and weathering with and without). Participants can expect to eat breakfast in a tent similar to the one below and leave the workshop with a few short vignettes of writing and some new ways of connecting climate change to the everyday.

What to bring: comfortable weather-appropriate clothes, pen and note pad, and, if possible, a coffee cup and little bowl/plate/utensils and something to sit on in case the ground is wet. Spare stationary, ground sheets and cups/bowls/utensils will be provided for travellers.
If you’d like to read more about the concept explore some of the resources here: https://communityweatheringstation.net/reading-resources/. Participation in the workshop is totally possible without pre-reading.
Cost: $10 on the day to cover breakfast supplies
